Cloth Virtual Try-On on a Mirror

What is an AR/AI Mirror for VTO?

An AR/AI Mirror is a smart interactive screen powered by AI and computer vision that lets customers try on clothes virtually (VTO) in real time. Deployed in fashion retail, pop-ups, and experiential activations, these mirrors track body movements instantly to display photorealistic garments without changing physical clothes. They blend real-time virtual try-ons with AI personal styling and interactive branded experiences, drastically boosting customer engagement, store footprint efficiency, and sales in physical retail.

How much does an AI Mirror cost?

An AR/AI Mirror generally ranges from $10,000 to $50,000, influenced by hardware specifications, real-time virtual try-on capabilities, and custom software tailoring. Basic configurations begin near $20,000, whereas sophisticated systems equipped with advanced AI models, motion tracking, and retail analytics can scale from $60,000 to over $100,000.

Investment levels differ based on whether you choose a temporary event activation or a permanent store installation. Short-term rentals feature dedicated event pricing designed to maximize return on investment. To keep expenses manageable, we provide a streamlined plug-and-play package for rapid deployment, alongside a dedicated setup manager for fixed installations to guarantee flawless integration and real-time performance.

What is the timeline to design and deploy an AR/AI Mirror?

From project kickoff to final launch, building and deploying an AR/AI Mirror usually spans 3 to 4 weeks—a timeline that covers custom interface design, real-time software development, rig testing, and on-site setup.

When project specs and digital assets are ready upfront, we can accelerate this timeline dramatically. In fact, our team has successfully shipped custom, fully functional AR mirror installations in as little as two weeks, delivering flawless real-time performance on an urgent turnaround.

How Cloth VTO transform Retail & Fashion?

AR mirrors eliminate fitting room friction by replacing physical try-ons with immediate, high-definition digital previews. Eliminating the need for changing rooms, waiting lines, or apparel handling, shoppers and event guests simply step before the display as clothes, accessories, cosmetics, or branded visual effects map seamlessly onto their real-time reflection.

For physical retail, this enables consumers to instantly try dozens of garments, test alternate colorways without touching physical inventory, and discover tailored AI style recommendations. The outcome is higher foot traffic, extended dwell times, greater purchasing confidence, and significantly lower return rates.

How ZERO10 Innovated as a Virtual Try-On Pioneer

While basic AR filters historically relied on static 2D overlays or simple face masks, ZERO10 pioneered the transition to real-time, photorealistic clothing simulation on physical displays.

  • Proprietary Computer Vision Stack: ZERO10 was among the first to solve the complex computational problem of combining 3D body tracking, real-time multi-class segmentation, and dynamic cloth physics simulation simultaneously. This ensures virtual fabrics drape, fold, and move naturally with the human body in real time rather than appearing glued on.

  • Transition from Mobile to Physical Storefronts: ZERO10 moved virtual try-ons (VTO) out of mobile apps and into physical retail spaces with high-resolution AR Mirrors and window-display AR Storefronts, turning entire storefront windows into interactive engagement hubs.

  • Commercialization in Global Fashion: ZERO10 was the first to deploy this enterprise-grade hardware and software directly with top fashion houses and global retail brands (such as Coach, Tommy Hilfiger, Calvin Klein, Nike, and Ugg), proving that real-time AR try-on increases in-store try-on rates and foot traffic.

Real-Time AI Mirror: The Next-Gen Alternative to 3D AR Try-On

Legacy AR try-on technology relies on outdated 3D modeling, rigid CAD assets, and basic skeleton tracking that yields flat, artificial overlays. We are the first to deploy true Real-Time Generative AI for AR Mirror experiences.

Instead of slapping stiff 3D objects onto a frame, our real-time AI dynamically generates and drapes photorealistic garments directly over live video feed. It captures natural fabric weight, light reflection, texture, and movement in real time, eliminating tedious 3D asset creation and delivering an unmatched, hyper-realistic virtual fitting experience.

Why Mirror Experience Is the New Industry Reference

While legacy VTO platforms like ZERO10, Aircards, Vyu by INDE, HeroMirror, Modiface, and others rely on outdated 3D skeleton tracking and static CAD overlays, Mirror Experience has redefined real-time virtual try-ons through Generative Real-Time Al.

Instead of rigid 3D models mapped over video feeds, our technology dynamically generates photorealistic garments in real time, capturing real-physics inetractions, natural fabric weight, dynamic lighting, complex textures, and full-body movement

Each AR Mirror case is splitted in two part, software and hardware. We are always doing the AR software, but for hardware it depends. If the installation is light and easily deployable, we will manage it. For more complex fixed installation that imply custom constructions we work together with Bweez in France and Mirror.it in Italy.

FAQ

What is the difference between an AR mirror and a regular screen?

A regular screen displays static or video content. An AR mirror uses Augmented Reality and AI to interact with the person standing in front of it in real time, overlaying virtual elements directly onto their reflection, creating a personalised and immersive experience.

Yes. Unlike others, our AR mirror can run locally without an internet connection. We also focus on no user-data collection. Connectivity is only required once to load the filter. Once loaded it can runs weeks without interrupt. Even to get your photo via QR code, we have developed a very custom and unique “Offline QR” solution.

An AR mirror typically includes a large display screen, a camera, and a dedicated processing unit. Our setup is the easiest to install and can be adapted to almost any space, from a retail store to a museum gallery. Our iOS app running the AR experience can be used on an iPhone linked via HDMI to a screen, an iPad + webcam or a Mac Mini + webcam.

Very accurate. Our AR mirrors use advanced AI body tracking to detect posture, movements, and facial features in milliseconds, ensuring virtual overlays stay perfectly aligned even as the visitor moves. Our solution s the opposite of a static AI Photobooth. It is a living, real-time AR and AI effect and filter screen.

AR mirrors are primarily designed for indoor use, where lighting conditions can be controlled for optimal tracking accuracy. Outdoor installations are possible with adapted hardware and protective enclosures.

Absolutely. AR mirrors are intuitive and require no technical knowledge to use. Interactive games and historical experiences make them particularly engaging for younger audiences and school visits.

Yes. Every AR mirror experience is fully customisable, from the interface design and branded filters to the virtual costumes and interactive content. The experience is built around your brand and your audience.

AR mirrors support a wide range of virtual try-ons including clothing, accessories, makeup, hats, glasses, and full historical or themed costumes. Custom content can be developed for any industry or use case.

AR mirrors can capture anonymised engagement data such as interaction time, most tried items, and peak usage hours. No personal data or images are stored without explicit consent, in full compliance with GDPR. We designed our AR Mirror to be almost fully offline and with no personal user-data collection. Except the mail form at the final step if the brand want to get new customers subscribing to their newsletter.

By letting customers virtually try products before purchasing, AR mirrors significantly increase purchase confidence. When shoppers know how something looks on them, they are far less likely to return it. It also encourage to try clothes they would have not think about.

Engagement times vary by context, but AR mirrors typically hold attention for 2 to 5 minutes on average, significantly longer than traditional displays or static signage. Note that if there is a crowded line, we have designed our AR Mirror to work for a 30-60 second experience, so the next person don’t have to wait.

Installation typically takes less than a day. Once the hardware is in place, content setup and customisation can be completed remotely, making deployment fast and flexible. We usually design and deploy an AR Mirror in 2-4 weeks.

Visitors can instantly share their AR mirror photos via QR code, or direct social media integration (Instagram stories, TikTok post, Snapchat, Whatsapp message, etc.). The process takes seconds and requires no app download. Once you have scanned the QR on the AR Mirror, all the process continues on your phone, on your browser.

Yes. Our analytics dashboard gives you full visibility into sharing activity, engagement metrics, and content performance, so you can measure the real social media impact of your AR mirror. Our dashboard and back-office also allows you to change filter (e.g. during Xmas, Valentines, Mother’s Day, etc) and contact us instantly with our 24/7 included support.
